Happy New Year!

Welcome, 2020!
GUYSSSS.  Can you believe we're beginning a new DECADE???
I seriously CAN'T.  I mean, aren't we supposed to at least have hover boards or something?  xD hahaha  I know that's kinda an overused question (especially NOW), but COME ON.  Wouldn't that be AWESOME?

So, 2020.
Here's to a new year!  I have no idea what my God has in store for me & my little family, but I am excited to see how this year unfolds.  There's so many new & new-to-me books I'm ready to dig into, the family business is running on faith, there's a possibility we will be able to move to the country, and Lord knows what else could happen these coming months.  :]  Regardless, I am confident in His provision & relish a new year to live for Him.

BLOG
I'm currently getting my blogging schedule organized & down on paper.  Don't worry!  I will still be sharing the Name posts, but the amount of times per month may dwindle slightly.  My life right now has other things that take priority, and cutting down on my original goal of 2-3 posts to 1-2 posts per week will help me accomplish them.  :]  There will be regular book reviews (see below for a list of some upcoming reviews), Name posts, and an Encouragement post at least once monthly.

>> UPCOMING REVIEWS <<
THE AWAKENED by Richard Spillman
IF WISHES WERE CURSES by Janeen Ippolito
SHADOW & BONE by Leigh Bardugo
THE DARK LORD OF DERKHOLM by Diana Wynne Jones

(in no particular order)

WRITING
Now that Christmas has passed, & the New Year has been rung in, I'm slowly getting back into my Beauty & the Beast retelling, NOYA.  If you keep up with the NaNoWriMo, I'm logging in my progress using their new & updated website.  :D  I'm hoping to reach another 30k words by March 1st---which will [again] hopefully mean I will have written those concluding words, The End.  *squeals* That's the goal, at least.  It's coming along!  Progress is slow, but perhaps it'll pick up as I near the climax & ending.  *shrugs* We'll see!

USEFUL FACT FOR THE YEAR
I recently heard on the radio (yes, I listen to the radio) that when writing the day's date on documents, checks, etc. etc., be sure to write the full year.  For instance: 1/8/2020Why? you may ask.  Well, according to whoever it was on said radio station, they shared that if you only use the abbreviated date (i.e. 1/8/20), your document/check/etc. is more susceptible to scam or some kind of fraud, because someone could forge your writing and add 2019.  This could be a serious issue if you're adulting & write a check (#oldfashioned) for a mortgage or lease agreement, because some dishonest person could add different digits to say you didn't pay for that particular year blah-blah-blah.  Make sense?  I thought it entirely interesting. . .

Well.  There ya have it.  Tell me: are you new to the blogging world?  If so, WELCOME!!! Shoot me a comment & blog link & I'd be happy to visit.  ^ - ^

How goes your first week of 2020?  I don't know about you, but Winter in my area has been extremely mild (I am NOT complaining---in fact, I'm LOVING it!).  We've have an average temperature of 50-60-degree days thus far.

I hope this year is amazing for you, my friend!
Here's to 2020!

  1. I would love to read your review on Shadow and Bone. I've heard so much about Leigh's work, but I'm not sure if I should dive into it or not. Anything you have to say would be appreciated!

That tip about dates is super interesting. I manage my brother's finances and I write his checks for tithes and whatnot (#oldfashioned), so that is something I'll have to start doing. I should hope a church isn't dishonest, but it would at least get me into practice in case I have to write one for someone I don't know.

    1. I completely understand! I hope to have that one up & running sometime in the next couple weeks. I felt the same diving into it, but once I did, I was blown away by the story, the world-building, & the EVERYTHING. It's definitely a secular novel, but I'll have the details in my review. :]

I thought so! And there's nothin' wrong with old-fashioned. ;D That's awesome your brother has you as his personal accountant---you go, girl!

  2. Happy New Year, Sarah!

The potential for so many new adventures and opportunities definitely makes the beginning of the new year an exciting time! So far, 2020 is off to a good start here. I'm easing back into writing now that my break is over, and trying to organize as much as possible while that new-year enthusiasm is still going! Hehe. AND THIS WEATHER. I was telling my sister yesterday that it feels more like March than January, which is strange but nice, even if it does make me second-guess the calendar. ;D

What an interesting tip! I'll have to keep that in mind.

By the way, does your blog have a new design? It's so pretty and elegant! I can't wait to see all the lovely posts you have in store for 2020!

    1. Happy New Year, Jameson! I hope you & your fam had a marvelous time over the holidays. <3

Yes! Ditto---I couldn't say it any better myself. And it certainly feels like March! I agree it's 'strange, but nice' as I'm totally not a cold-weather gal... heheh

Yes, actually! Sometime early last year I was looking around the template shops for a new look & fell in love with this one---changed it maybe a couple months ago now. But I STILL love it! I wanted something simple, yet lovely, & I think this one covers both. *^ - ^* Thanks, girl! I can say the same of your blog!

  3. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!! *ALL THE CONFETTI* It's seriously WILD that we're in a new DECADE??? HOW? It's kinda fun saying we now live in the '20s though. XD (BUT HOW???)

Awwww, it sounds like you have some exciting things coming for this year! :D I do hope it proves to be the BEST year yet.

Thanks for that info about writing checks and things. That's a very good thought!

Also, like ALL the books you're reviewing soon are on my TBR, so I'm excited to hear your thoughts! :D

Here's to a wonderful new year!

  4. Belated Happy New Year!! I'm looking forward to all your reviews, especially for Shadow and Bone! I've been wondering whether to pick that one up. :D

To be honest it hasn't been the best start to the new year for Australia---we're in huge-scale drought and have hundred of devastating fires burning around the country. (With new ones starting each day, and we're unable to put the largest ones out until March, they're so large). It's a scary time, and I'd appreciate any prayers for lots and lots of rain. Thank you! <3

To each is given a bag of tools,
A shapeless mass, and a book of rules,
And each must make, ere life is flown,
A stumbling block or a stepping stone.
