What's in a Name? || Nicknames!

Happy Monday to you, friends!

How was your weekend?
Ready for some new nicknames?? I believe I missed this post last month, but it's back! :]

Also, I wish you to be aware: this little blog will be undergoing a teensy bit of change this week!  I'm updating the template & hopefully it'll look fresh & new, and yet still easily accessible & easy to read.  So if you happen to pop in for a visit & things are a little wonky, no worries!  It's me & not your internet/computer/gremlin/etc.

Enjoy these lovely monickers! ;D

Anders
Anderson
M | English

From a surname meaning "son of Andrew". (Andrew meaning "manly, masculine")

Mari
Marianna
F | Italian, English, Hungarian, Slovak, Polish, Finnish, Greek

Combination of Maria (from Mary, meaning "beloved" or "love") & Anna (from Hannah, meaning "favor, grace").  But not to be confused with the Roman name Mariana.

Gibbs
Gibson
English, Scottish

From the surname, meaning "son of Gib." (Gib, in turn, is a diminutive of Gilbert, meaning "bright pledge.")

Jem
Jemima
| Biblical, English

Means "dove" in Hebrew.  This was the given name of the eldest of Job's three daughters in the Old Testament.

Lorn
Lawrence
English

Variant of Laurence, and the same spelling as the surname. Laurence was derived from Roman Lauretius, meaning "from Laurentum." Laurentum was the name of an ancient city in Italy, possibly derived from Latin laurus "laurel."

Juli/Julie
Juliette
French

French diminutive of Julie, which is the French, Danish, Norwegian, & Czech form of Julia.

  1. You are the MASTER at coming up with unique nicknames! I think Anders is my favorite. That's such a cool name. But Lorn is also SO unique and fun too. GAH. I JUST LOVE THEM ALL!

I do hope changing up your blog goes well. Can't wait to see the final result! :D

    1. *blushes* Awww, thanks, girl! I agree, Anders just has an awesome ring to it. ^_^ And I was trying to think of something unique that I'd want to use for the old-fashioned Lawrence, instead of the 'Little Women' version, Laurie. ;D It's just a *little* too girly, AND I always think of a dear bloggy friend when I hear it. ;D <333

Thank you, dear girl! Me too!

    1. Thank you, Sarah! I'm so pleased to hear. I'm still tweaking some things, seeing what works, what needs more fiddling, etc. But I'm so very happy so far!

Yes! I agree. Mari is lovely. <333

    1. Thank you, girl! I found the template on Etsy & am SO very pleased with it. It's exactly what I was looking for. :D

      So do I! I also like spelling it with a "G"---"Gem" ^_^

  5. The new blog format looks more streamlined and minimalist! I will miss the old flowery, beautiful template, but this one is nice in its own way too :)

  6. Thanks, girl! It certainly is! Awww, you're so sweet! Yes, I miss the flowers as well (and would still have some somewhere if I knew HTML coding...), but I was looking for something with column compatible for large photos & space---and this fits the bill! I also wanted to have a theme of succulents in there somewhere---still working on that. ;D

BTW, if interested for your own space someday, you can find the Belle theme (the template I had previously) here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/246416823/responsive-blogger-template-blogger?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=belle+theme+blogger+template&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&organic_search_click=1&pro=1

To each is given a bag of tools,
A shapeless mass, and a book of rules,
And each must make, ere life is flown,
A stumbling block or a stepping stone.
