March Promptlies >> Writerly Link-up Party: Info & Details

It's beginning!!!
Today's the day for all the details!

If you are completely baffled at the moment, no worries.  :]  Allow me to explain:  Beginning Sunday, March 3rd, I will be hosting a fun little blog party here that I'm calling March Promptlies.  If you are a writer, aspiring or published, this should be a fun little exercise for you!

> > > THE IDEA < < <
Each Sunday in March, I will post a writing prompt (chosen by yours truly) to focus on for that particular week.  If you so desire to take part, you have from that Sunday to Saturday to share a brief excerpt or short story relating to the prompt.  Make sense?  You will then post your mini story on your personal blog/site/etc. & link back to mine via the link tool I'll have at the end of each Sunday post.

Got it???
Onward to ze rules!

>  {EDIT} Each story should be a minimum of 500 to a max of 1000 words!
Oooh.  Hope that's not a killer for some of you. . . ;D
>  At the start of your posts, use the "Promptlies" banner (above), & make sure to link back to this blog somewhere.
You should be able to copy & paste.
>  No foul language or vulgarity of any kind.
It's totally unnecessary.  If you've a particular bad guy(s), I'd suggest using phrases like "he cursed" or "they dragged him away spitting obscenities unworthy of repeating in respectable company."  O___o  Ya get the idea.
>  No sensuality.
Sweet kisses, hugs, & tender embraces are acceptable.
>  Keep blood & gore to a minimum please!
PG-13 at least.  We're not trying to gross anyone out.  This is just a month of fun writing exercises to revamp our creative juices.
Spread the word!!!
While it's not a goal for this link-up, IF this little blog happens to reach 110 followers, I'll be hosting a bookish giveaway sometime in April.

>  Check back every Sunday for each week's prompt!
>  If participating, take the prompt given & see where your pen (or typing fingers) takes you---WRITE!!!
>  As mentioned above, keep the excerpts between 300 to 800 words.
>  Post the results of your writings on your blog & link to mine by the following Saturday.  That means you've got about six days to write something & share with everyone.  We all need deadlines, right??
>  GET CREATIVE.  Dabble in different genres!  This is the perfect chance to try something you've never done before, or even to attempt a genre that you would otherwise never attempt.

> > > > > < < < < <

Whatcha think??  This idea came to me because I've struggled lately with writer's block & have been wondering where in the world I wanna take my stories.  My creativity level seems extremely low, and I was searching for a way to boost it.  We'll see how this goes. . .  :]

Besides, once the month of March has passed, it means April's Camp NaNo begins!  What better way to exercise the brain-juices & prepare for Camp, yes?  Depending on how this little link-up goes, I'm keeping it in mind again for the month of June (before July's Camp NaNo) and then in October (for November's NaNoWriMo. . . :] :] :]

Also, as mentioned above, depending on the possibility of new friends---if this little blog gains at least 12 new followers---then I'll hold a bookish giveaway sometime in April.  More to come in regards to that!

So excited, y'all!!!
Happy Wednesday!

  1. This looks SO MUCH FUN!!! I have a LOT going on in March and actually may be taking a semi-blogging hiatus. Buuut I've actually been writing little flash fiction pieces lately (for the first time in...ever!) because I, too, have been needing to exercise my creativity again. So I may have to join in a time or two, because I LOVE this idea!

    1. Please don't feel obligated, girl! This is meant entirely for fun & certainly not to get in the way of your other priorities---those are what you need to focus on. But if you need a break from reality, feel free to join in!

That's awesome that you're writing flash fiction!! I've never dabbled in such an area, do you likey?? And is there someplace we could possibly read said pieces??? *allthehearteyes* <3

  2. Oh, boy! I can’t wait!

(I guess we’ll see what happens - I usually post on Sundays, but I may squeeze in an extra blog post here or there to fit this in!)

    1. Awww, so glad to hear y'all are excited for this. *^ - ^* I hope it more than fills the expectation!

Hopefully it won't be too difficult to fit into your week. I'll be posting the prompts each Sunday, but you won't need to share your results from said prompt until that following Saturday at the latest, so no worries! I hope it's not too confusing! If so, please let me know so I can clarify for everyone. :D <3

  3. Yay! This sounds epic. Even though I'm not posting on my blog right now, I may still use your prompts to challenge myself. :D

  5. Sounds like such a fun idea! I'm not a writer, so I won't be participating, but I'll be sure to check out the others. For those participating, it'd be great if you could comment with a link to your blog so I can read your stories :)

    1. No worries, m'dear! I'm SO looking forward to reading everyone's prompt results---SO PUMPED. If I can set up the link tool correctly, you should be able to go to each Sunday's post, scroll to the bottom, & see the links to all the participating blogs. But I most certainly don't mind seeing blog addresses in the comments section. Feel free if need be, y'all!

To each is given a bag of tools,
A shapeless mass, and a book of rules,
And each must make, ere life is flown,
A stumbling block or a stepping stone.
