What's in a Name?

It's Monday again.

Er, I mean ---

Happy Monday, all!  ;D
I've got some Futuristic names for you today, me lovely beans.  It's been quite a while since I've featured any in that particular genre, and when I stumbled on Destry last week, I thought it'd be as good a time as any.  :]

{For those of you who may be new to this little blog and are wondering what this could possibly be, then please, allow me to humbly explain:  I feature Name posts every (most) Monday.  As a hobbyist writer, I LOVE finding new, unique, old-fashioned, and/or lovely names for my characters.  Being a collector of such names, so to speak, I enjoy seeking out the meaning and history behind them as well.  I started this series to share what I find and maybe even inspire names for characters of your own, if you too are a self-proclaimed writer---or even a published author.  :]  So, with all that said. . .}

Enjoy!

Falken
M | English
FALL-ken, or FAL-ken

Meaning unknown.  Could possibly be a variant of Falcon, the name for the bird.

Destry
F & M | English
DES-tree

Possibly from the name Destrier, a French surname derived from the Anglo-Norman word destrer, meaning "warhorse."

Kyan
M | African-American, English (modern), Irish, Dutch
KY-in, KY-an, k-yan or KEE-an

Possibly derived from the Yoruba name Kayin, meaning "a long-awaited child." Or a variant spelling of Cian, which means "ancient" in Gaelic.

Mya
F | English (modern)
MIE-ǝ

A variant of Mia, which is the Scandinavian, Dutch, and German diminutive of Maria, ultimately derived from the Hebrew Mary, possibly meaning "beloved" or "love."

    1. I totally agree with you. Destry was the name I came across first, and I loved how different it is! I could see it used for both a boy or girl, but I think I like it best as a girl's name. :]

    1. Thanks!! YESSSSSS, do it!!! I'd love to see what kind of character you would make him (or her, cuz it could be used for a female, I think) :D

To each is given a bag of tools,
A shapeless mass, and a book of rules,
And each must make, ere life is flown,
A stumbling block or a stepping stone.
