The 777 Writing Challenge

Oh my.  I'm so behind in my tags.  Thank you to all the sweet dearies who tagged me what seems ages ago!  I haven't forgotten. . . Well, I did, but I remember them now! :]  Heheh.

This one in particular was passed on to me by my friend Jameson C. Smith of Lovely Whatsoevers.  [Thanks, girlie!]  It's a super easy one, and has served to get my mind back on my poor, neglected Safia-story.  (Which, I'm ashamed to admit, has been put off for MONTHS. . .)  O_O

RULES -
Go to page 7 of your current work-in-progress (WIP), scroll down to line 7, and share the next 7 lines in a blog post.  Once finished, tag 7 blogger buddies to do the challenge themselves on their own blogs.

This snippet comes from Safia, Chapter 3. . .

With his last reservoir of strength, he kicked and pushed, attempting to swim free of the wreckage surrounding him and his charge.
Rescue.  What a beautiful word.  He had never thought the day would come when he would depend on such a thing.  Numb to his wounds, he felt only a heavy throb in both his body and heart. But one thought dominated his mind: Protect her.
Clinging to the large wooden beam that was currently acting as their life float, he carefully adjusted his hold on Safia, ignoring the sharp stab of pain in his shoulder. . .

To each is given a bag of tools,
A shapeless mass, and a book of rules,
And each must make, ere life is flown,
A stumbling block or a stepping stone.
