A + A Friday!!

Hey there, my friends! Past time for an A+A post, right? Enjoy!

AWKWARD
  • Farm-girl mechanic by day, book-store employee by night (ninja in dreams).
  • When an older man (customer) asks for a recommendation regarding a mother/daughter devotional, then proceeds to tell you he's gonna dress as a woman and give a speech for a Mother's Day banquet thingy. . . O_o  (Obviously,in his mind, it was supposed to be funny.  But to me, it wasn't. So, I just gave a half-laugh and tried to help him find the devotional.)
  • When a customer, another older man, offers you a pill while digging through his pockets for change. . . O_O (His hand came out with a mixture of coins and two pills, and he offered one jokingly)
  • This:
  • When older women call you "baby."  (I think I've mentioned this before. . .)
  • At Walmart, picking up some items--you are in line at a fast check-out with a older woman and her buggy behind you.  Several times you feel her buggy bump your handbag, but it isn't until you get close enough to put your items on the tiny counter that she pushes her buggy against you.  At first, you think it's unintentional, maybe she doesn't realize she's pushing you.  But then it seems she does and simply wants to put her purchases on the counter as well, even though the lady in front of you is just now paying for her items!  The older woman forces you out of the way of her buggy and you are left wide-eyed and surprised that this sweet-looking woman would do such a thing.  Finally, it's your turn.  You pay for your items and head to your car, still astonished at such behavior.
  • One word:  SUNBURN.  Who forgets to put sunscreen on her legs, while raking hay for a few hours?? Silly SARAH, that's who.  ;D

AWESOME
  • Finding beauty in the little things:  early morning walks with a good friend, hanging out laundry to sun-dry, planting succulents in little pots, picking strawberries, sitting in the porch swing late evenings and watching the stars come out.
  • When your manager calls the store and you end up answering: "Thank you for calling Cleveland LifeWay, this is Sarah.  How may I help you?" and she tells you that you sound so friendly.
  • Stopping in at your grandparents house for a surprise visit, after a walk through the back woods with a friend.
  • When your dad sends you this pic and you burst out laughing:

  • When a stranger says she likes your hair.  Definitely brings a smile, because you know it's rather messy and flyaway from a long day at work.
  • The amazing amount of foreign customers that visit LifeWay: Canadians, a South African family, a sweet girl from Nigeria, a lady born in Ukraine.
  • Watching the AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON with a dear friend opening night, then going to see it again with your family and another friend (a couple days later)!!
  • In the hayfield all week long!!  *takes deep breath of the smell of golden dryness* Oh, how I love this season!
  • Raking hay with your good friend riding along keeping you company.
  • "This is LamininThe molecule, Laminin is the protein that holds human beings together. Do you notice its shape? Isn't it amazing that God would think so far in the future, and make the very thing that makes us think of Jesus, make up and play a crucial role in how we are formed? God formed you to not only live as an image of Christ, but to never escape the fact that you are HIS! We are branded by the Cross! 'He is before all things, and in him all things hold together' (Colossians 1:17)"  AMAZING.

So, how's your week been?  Any awkward/awesome-ness happen worthy of recording??  Haha! If so, I'd love to know!  Shoot me a comment--or better yet, write your own A+A post!!

Happy weekend, y'all!

  1. Well, one time, I was helping a friend mow on her property. I ended up getting a riding lawnmower stuck in a tree. Luckily, she was gracious enough to get stuck in a ditch. Even more luckily, her brother was there, so he was able to get us both unstuck.

It was awesome to be out in the fresh air, but super awkward to be stuck in a tree.

And yes, I have a post about it coming soon. :)

That molecule is so so so cool!

Yup. Sunburns. Dislike them a lot.

  2. So much in this post! :D

    *whispers* Of course you're a ninja. ;)
    ...Um, no, not terribly funny.
    LOL, Kermit. XD
There seriously are people like that Walmart shopper in this world? For real? Wow. How rude.

Ah, I love all the little things you mentioned. Makes me happy just thinking of them. ^^
Haha, I've heard that Decepticon joke from my brother's friend--so funny. xD Even if I haven't ever watched Transformers...
    YAY CANADIANS.
You...you watched Age of Ultron. AHHH, I AM SO JEALOUS. My brother got to watch it last weekend, but I was elsewhere and now he is torturing me. D: Must. Watch. Soon.
That is incredible about how Laminin is shaped! I'd never heard/seen that before. Wow!

(You know, I've been trying to think of some sort of monthly type of post... I've always loved reading your A+A posts, Deborah O'Carrolls Monthly Ishness posts, Anne Elisabeth Stengl's Doings at Drakenheath, etc. Now to come up with a title for my own! And whew, sorry for how long this got!)

  3. These are always my favorite posts :) Did you recently redesign? I like your new header! Oooh...it's kinda hard to believe a sweet lady would push you out of her way. Hmmm.
AS for me, I don't really know. Although car rides with your friend and her mom being really awkward would definitely be on my "awkward"list.

  4. Yay! These are always the best, and this one in particular was full of scrumptiousness.

That first one. XD I'm totally a ninja in my dreams too. In reality I'm just awkward...
Dress as a woman for Mother's Day? Um...okay then. To each his own...?
Good gracious, someone pushed you out of the way in the check-out line? o.O What...WHAT? That's horrible! People these days, sheesh!
Ugh, sunburns. I'm constantly getting them because of my own terrible memory. They're so not fun. :(

I love your list of beautiful little things, it makes me smile. ^_^
    DECEPTICONS! Bwahahaha! XDDD
I think it's so awesome all the experience you get working at Lifeway. Sounds like a good time!
AGH. I haven't seen Age of Ultron yet and it's killing meee! I'm hoping to convince a friend to go with me next week. *crosses fingers* Was it good???
Oh wow, that Laminin thing just put me in total awe. When I read that I was literally just going, "Oh my goodness, oh my goodness!" It just...wow. We have an amazing Creator, don't we? :D

If you can't tell, I loved this post and it was so good to hear how things are going for you. ^_^

  5. Wow! That Laminin molecule is amazing! I can't believe I've never heard of it before. Also, it's so wonderful that you stopped at your grandparents' house for a surprise visit. I really wish my grandparents lived that close enough so I could visit them everyday, but unfortunately they live extremely far away.

To each is given a bag of tools,
A shapeless mass, and a book of rules,
And each must make, ere life is flown,
A stumbling block or a stepping stone.
