I think Emric is an awesome, strong name - and definitely perfect for the Elves. :]

Christine: Awww, thanks! *^ - ^* Evony is particularly lovely - I can definitely foresee her as a possible future character of yours! ;D Ahh! those two! Definitely epic names. *thumbs up* And how can we not make up new and awesome names for our medieval fantasies?? That's a huge piece in what makes the stories!

Catherine: How neat! And your names are pretty awesome. I must say I like Vasarvis for a legendary horse - that's my fave! Mythology is great inspiration for names, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing yours!

Blue: Yes, had to add that one! I love his characters so much!! But Janner has always stuck with me. He and I are alike in how we are the eldest siblings. :]Sarah Cnossenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04095719269691352787noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7890982655414656696.post-60368205851333646172018-02-20T20:34:13.203-05:002018-02-20T20:34:13.203-05:00ooh! I love it when people get creative with names :) I especially like Emric and Evony (which, oddly enough, is being used by a GR friend in her WIP!!)

Let's see....I created a few names for my WIP From the Cave.

Morigenne ~ I adapted it from Morrigan, an Irish "goddess" of war.

Vasarvis ~ a name I created for a legendary Elvish horse.

Alcitta ~ a name of another horse, which I adapted from Alcippe, the daughter of the Greek "god" of war.

Braniwencia ~ a name of a raven, which I adapted from Branwen, which is Welsh for beautiful raven (and another "goddess").

As you may notice, I tend to make my own names from the names of pagan "gods and goddesses". I don't feel comfortable using those names for characters, but sometimes I like their meaning or even just the name. So, I'll use that name as inspiration to create my own name.

Awesome post, Sarah!

Catherine
catherinesrebellingmuse.blogspot.com Catherine Hawthornhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15373041928187510536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7890982655414656696.post-17255096460424821442018-02-19T20:26:29.157-05:002018-02-19T20:26:29.157-05:00What a fun idea! And Emric and Saegan are just epic and sound like something that would fit perfectly in the types of fantasy books I write. I'm jotting these down! :D I deeefinitely makeup names. More likely than not, my characters have utterly made-up names. I guess it comes with being a fantasy writer. XD

These posts are just a well of inspiration! One of my stories has elves, so I'm thinking of using it as a side character. The main elf has a name already, but there is another elf I needed a name for. :) Thanks again for these awesome names! <3

~Ivie|Ivie WritesIvie Brookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07078528126219230207noreply@blogger.com
