So, for this particular post, I decided to attempt something different.
Instead of sharing names and their origin and meanings, I thought, "Why not post names whose meanings are unknown?" These monikers are often combinations of other names, tweakings is that a word? of the more common ones, or simply and truly unique.
To begin, let's go with the lovely, feminine names. . .
Narah
Simple, yet lovely.
Evony
Reminds me of Ebony.
Teylie
This one could be a play on Taylor or possibly Kaylee.
Neysa
Extremely unique!
Pareysia
Could be pronounced however you like.
I keep thinking pah-RAY-see-ah or even pah-RAY-zhah.
And now for a bit of the masculine. :]
Emric
Personally, I think this would be an awesome fantasy name. Maybe an Elf??
Te'o
Could be a form of Teo, which may ultimately be derived from Theodore.
Jarran
Again, this would be an awesome fantasy/medieval guy.
Or perhaps a character in some sci-fi tale.
Saegan
This was a character's name in The Binding of the Blade series by L.B. Graham.
Janner
This name is also from a book series: The Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson.

These are AMAZING AS USUAL!! <3 <3 I especially love Emric. One of my stories has elves, so I'm thinking of using it as a side character. The main elf has a name already, but there is another elf I needed a name for. :) Thanks again for these awesome names! <3

What a fun idea! And you have done it again. I LOVE ALL OF THESE. I'm especially in love with Evony. SO PRETTY!!! And Emric and Saegan are just epic and sound like something that would fit perfectly in the types of fantasy books I write. I'm jotting these down! :D I deeefinitely makeup names. More likely than not, my characters have utterly made-up names. I guess it comes with being a fantasy writer. XD

Oooohhh fun! I love it when people get creative with names :) I especially like Emric and Evony (which, oddly enough, is being used by a GR friend in her WIP!!)
ReplyDeleteLet's see....I created a few names for my WIP From the Cave.
Morigenne ~ I adapted it from Morrigan, an Irish "goddess" of war.
Vasarvis ~ a name I created for a legendary Elvish horse.
Alcitta ~ a name of another horse, which I adapted from Alcippe, the daughter of the Greek "god" of war.
Braniwencia ~ a name of a raven, which I adapted from Branwen, which is Welsh for beautiful raven (and another "goddess").
As you may notice, I tend to make my own names from the names of pagan "gods and goddesses". I don't feel comfortable using those names for characters, but sometimes I like their meaning or even just the name. So, I'll use that name as inspiration to create my own name.
