What's in a Name?

And here's yet another of the futuristic set, in the feminine. . .

Tosha
Gender:  Feminine
Usage:  English, Russian
Pronunciation:  TOSH-a

Meaning & History
Possibly a variant of the nickname Tasha, the short form of Natasha, which in turn is the Russian diminutive of Natalya, ultimately meaning "Christmas Day."

Zahara
Gender:  Feminine
Usage:  Hebrew
Pronunciation:  (possibly) za-HARE-ah, ZAH-ha-rah

Meaning & History
Feminine form of Zohar, which means "light, brilliance" in Hebrew.

Jaye
Gender:  Feminine
Usage:  English
Pronunciation:  JAY

Meaning & History
Feminine variant of Jay, which is the short form of names beginning with the sound J, such as James or Jason.  Jay was originally used in America by founding father John Jay (1749-1825), whose surname was derived from the jaybird.

Kyte
Gender:  Masculine & Feminine
Usage:  English (modern)
Pronunciation:  KITE

Meaning & History
Variant of Kite, from the name of the bird of prey, possibly derived from the Middle English kete and Old English cyta.

To each is given a bag of tools,
A shapeless mass, and a book of rules,
And each must make, ere life is flown,
A stumbling block or a stepping stone.
